These are to be preformed by the Shaman.
The Shaman at any time can preform seances to speak to the Gods and may also receive omens.
The New Life Ritual
This is for cubs newly born and that have not opened their eyes.( less than 2 weeks old) The Shaman is to visit the nursery after combining a combination of herbs into a poultice. The Shaman will then murmur to the Gods, calling for them protection and long life. He/she then uses one toe from his fore paw to mark the cub.( with the God's guidance)
Positions Matter: ( Considered their mark)
Forehead: Smart
Chest: Strength
Back/Side: Long Life
Shoulder/Rump: Speed
Paw: Agility
The Apprentice Ritual
Cubs that are to become soldiers and fledglings will have this ritual done to them. The Shaman will pick an animal to sacrifice, the hunters ( usually will consist of the parents, if available) will find and harm it until it is trapped and weak. The Shaman is to come, and is to bring an animal skull that is saved for this ritual. They then drain the animal of it's blood while it is still partially alive. If not dead, then hunters then kill it and bring back the animal ( Or a portion of it, if too big) back to the camp.
The cub is to come forth and the Shaman calls for the spirits approval of the young soul and for protection. He the dips a paw into the blood and presses it against the cubs forehead, leaving a paw print that is to remain on his/her head until it comes off naturally. He/she then eats the animal in which the blood has came from. The parents are allowed to ( but not required) join in the meal.
Each animal has different meanings, and is known as the lion/lionesses spirit animal.
Elephant: Strength ( Rare)
Giraffe: Protection/Keen Eyes
Zebra/Gazelle: Speed
Wildebeest/Warthog/Buffalo: Battle Skills
Bird: Stealth
The Coming of Age Ritual
Soldiers that are at the age of 1 year can be selected to preform this ritual. When it is time for this apprentice to be tested, the Shaman will notify the King. In the next full moon, the apprentice will lead a hunt on his own. He is to hunt the animal from his Apprentice Ritual. The hunting party depends on the animal the apprentice is to hunt. The Apprentice MUST deliver the killing blow. A celebration is to follow if the hunt was successful.
The Moon/Sun Sacrifice
Once a month, the Shaman is to preform a Moon or Sun sacrifice.
For the Moon sacrifice, they must sacrifice a night dwelling animal at dusk.
For the Sun sacrifice, they must sacrifice a day dwelling animal at dawn.
These rituals are usually followed by a celebration and a feast.
The Spar
Lions of 3 years of age can ask for this ritual to be preformed. Then, the Lion is to hunt and to kill a member of his spirit animal ( Hunting parties are allowed for Elephant or buffalo). The Shaman must attend and collect blood. While the lion is doing this, the King must do the same for his spirit animal, though the medic must attend to collect the blood.
The Lion and the King will then have a blood print placed on the shoulder. The lion and king then must spar. If the lion proves that he if worthy, then he is allowed mating privileges. A celebration is to be held in his favor and the following day he does not have to do his pride duties.
Random things a Shaman can do:
Ward off the evil spirits: Take the bones of the freshest kill that was brought back to camp and preform a ritual.
Bearer of good luck: A mixture of herbs can be given to those about to go into battle.
Bearer of Bad luck: The act of throwing bones at enemies to send angered spirits their way.
